Are you a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs? A well‑established and highly supportive specialist school in Hemel Hempstead is seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join their team from September. The school caters for pupils aged 3‑19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), speech and language needs, and sensory impairments. SEN Teacher - Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
- Support pupils with a range of complex SEN including ASD, SLD, PMLD, and communication needs.
- Create a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress effectively.
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
- Promote independence, emotional wellbeing, and life skills development.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning approaches.
SEN Teacher - Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working within SEN, special schools, or inclusive educational settings.
- Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated teaching strategies.
- Knowledge of Autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, and complex learning needs.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
- ECTs with relevant SEN placement experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience using PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication methods.
- Knowledge of sensory integration strategies.
- Team Teach or positive behaviour support training.
- Experience teaching pupils with severe or profound learning difficulties.
