Veritas Education are working in partnership with a welcoming two-form entry primary school in Islington who are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing 1:1 or small group support to help children access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with a range of SEN, including autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher to plan and deliver differentiated learning activities
- Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents when required
Requirements
- Essential: Experience working with SEN children in a school or nursery setting
- A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
