Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking an experienced and dedicated KS3 Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in the Orpington/Bromley area. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural, and learning support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for KS3 pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities under teacher guidance.
- Implement behaviour-regulation strategies suited to individual pupils.
- Build positive and trusting relationships to improve engagement and wellbeing.
- Support teaching staff with behaviour management and classroom routines.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to ensure holistic support.
- Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques.
- Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (essential).
- Experience within a specialist setting or SEMH school highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
- Enhanced Child DBS (on the update service or willing to apply).
- Immediate availability.
