About the Role
We are seeking a creative, patient, and passionate Art Teacher to join our dedicated team in a specialist school setting in Chigwell. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about using art as a tool to engage, inspire, and support children and young people with Special Educational Needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils express themselves creatively, build confidence, and develop their skills in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated art lessons suited to a range of SEN needs
- Support pupils in developing creative, social, and emotional skills through art
- Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment where all students feel valued
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual learning needs
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and support staff
- Monitor and track pupil progress, providing feedback where appropriate
- Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing in line with school policies
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are always followed
Requirements
- A genuine passion for art and working with children with Special Educational Needs
- Previous experience working in an SEN setting (desirable but not essential)
- A patient, calm, and flexible approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities
- Relevant teaching experience or art‑based background (preferred)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
