Attendance Officer - Secondary School (Hounslow)

Veritas Education is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Hounslow that is seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to join their team immediately. This is a key role within the school's pastoral and safeguarding structure, helping to ensure that all students are supported to maintain excellent attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track daily student attendance using the school's management information system (e.g., SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom)
  • Make first-day absence calls and follow up on unexplained absences
  • Work closely with Heads of Year, pastoral teams, and families to address attendance concerns
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records
  • Liaise with external agencies where required
  • Support safeguarding processes related to attendance

Requirements

  • Must have prior experience in an attendance role within a school setting
  • Strong IT and data entry skills (MIS experience essential)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive information
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and attendance legislation is desirable
