We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Interim Assistant Head Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Kingston upon Thames, supporting learners across Secondary and Post-16 provision. This is a pivotal senior leadership role for an experienced professional who can work flexibly and confidently within a Senior Leadership Team (SLT), while holding overarching responsibility for Secondary and Post-16.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational support to the SLT
  • Lead and oversee Secondary and Post-16 provision
  • Responsibility for curriculum development and delivery
  • Manage and maintain accreditations and qualifications
  • Oversee work experience programmes and external partnerships
  • Lead on and attend school residentials
  • Teach approximately 2 days per week, as required
  • Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and outcomes for students with SEN

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have significant leadership experience within SEN and/or specialist education
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Secondary and Post-16 curriculum pathways
  • Be highly organised, flexible, and confident managing multiple priorities
  • Have experience with accreditations, work experience, and transitional pathways
  • Be a collaborative leader with a child-centred, inclusive approach
  • Be willing and able to attend school residentials

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN leader looking to make a meaningful impact within a supportive and forward-thinking school community. Immediate or short notice availability is highly desirable.
