We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Garstang with an immediate start. This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised learning strategies and ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN, adapting learning materials to meet their individual needs
- Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Support the pupil's academic, emotional, and social development
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals
- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback where necessary
- Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties)
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) - desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
