SEN Teaching Assistant - Wetherby Primary School

Full-Time | Lower Key Stage 1 (LKS1) | Immediate/September Start | Temporary to Permanent Opportunity

Are you a caring, patient, and enthusiastic individual looking to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wetherby, providing one-to-one support for a child with Down syndrome within Lower Key Stage 1.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a pupil, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential in a supportive school environment.

The Role

  • Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a child with Down syndrome.
  • Supporting learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Encouraging the development of communication, social, and independence skills.
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals.
  • Creating a positive and nurturing environment that enables the pupil to thrive.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working within a school setting would be highly advantageous.
  • Alternatively, experience working with children in any capacity, such as childcare, youth work, sports coaching, care work, or community-based roles.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
