Veritas Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant / Welfare Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the North Lancaster area from September 2026 on a long-term basis. This is a varied role combining lunchtime welfare support with classroom-based Teaching Assistant responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and supporting their development both in and out of the classroom.

Role Details

  • Welfare Assistant
    Monday to Friday 12:00pm - 1:30pm daily
    Supervising and supporting pupils during lunchtime
    Promoting positive behaviour and ensuring children remain safe and engaged
  • Teaching Assistant (Year 1)
    Wednesday only 9:00am - 3:00pm
    Supporting the Year 1 class teacher with learning activities
    Providing individual and small-group support
    Helping pupils to achieve their full potential in a nurturing classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children (school-based experience desirable)
  • A positive, patient and caring approach
  • Strong communication skills
