Veritas Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Middlesbrough seeking a dedicated Speech & Language Support Assistant to join their team from September. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs, helping them to develop confidence, build relationships and access learning successfully within the classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support to pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties
- Deliver interventions under the guidance of teaching staff and SEN professionals
- Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Encourage positive communication, engagement and social interaction
- Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and parents to support pupil progress, prepare appropriate visuals and resources for lessons.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
- Background in education, childcare, care, psychology, speech and language, health and social care or a related field
- Patient, nurturing and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- Passion for supporting children to reach their full potential
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
- Suitable references covering the last two years
