Veritas Education are working with a fantastic SEN school within the Leeds area, who are looking to recruit multiple permanent SEN support staff members for positions they have available. The school has specialist facilities set up to meet the needs of all learners, from supporting complex physical, learning and medical needs, to sensory, communication and SEMH requirements.

The Role:

  • You will be supporting a range of children of all age groups, from early years to post 16/young adults, across different needs and abilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in supporting multiple learning needs, such as Autism, Asperger's, Down Syndrome, communication needs and sensory requirements.
  • Create an inclusive, effective and positive learning environment, within the classroom, around the school setting and within the wider community.
  • Effectively manage challenging behaviour and implement therapeutic techniques and de-escalation strategies to help calm students down when going into crisis.
  • Academic support is vital within this role. Schools look out for staff members who can help students thrive within their learning, from sensory and interactive play sessions to higher functioning learning of core subjects like numeracy and literacy.
  • Be able to work as a team with other support staff, teachers, SLT and external parties in being able to create a safe, fun and supportive environment.
