Overview: SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly independent special school supporting pupils aged 7-16 (with some provision up to 19) with autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Set in a calm moorland environment above Ramsbottom, the school provides a nurturing, structured setting where pupils are supported through personalised learning and strong relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and SEMH needs
  • Support access to learning using differentiated and sensory-informed strategies
  • Promote emotional regulation, social skills, and positive behaviour
  • Support pupils with EHCP targets in collaboration with teachers and support staff
  • Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
  • Support personal care and behavioural needs where required

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly autism and/or SEMH (essential)
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships and work as part of a team
  • Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (desirable)
  • willingness to support personal care needs
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
