The Role
We are seeking a passionate, adaptable, and committed SEN Teacher to join a dedicated specialist team in Burnley. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN practitioner who is confident delivering a broad and differentiated curriculum to KS3 and KS4 pupils with a wide range of additional needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating engaging learning experiences that support academic progress alongside social, emotional, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons across core and foundation subjects for KS3 and KS4 pupils
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN needs and learning abilities
- Develop and implement personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
- Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress and achievement
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
- Support pupils' communication, independence, confidence, and social development
- Use positive behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches to support learning outcomes
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- QTS or QTLS (essential)
- Experience working with KS3 and KS4 pupils with SEN in mainstream or specialist settings
- Strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and learning needs
- The ability to differentiate effectively and deliver engaging lessons across a broad curriculum
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- A commitment to inclusive education and pupil-centred learning
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
