An 'Good' Primary school on the outskirts of Preston, Lancashire are looking for an experienced and approachable Autism specialist Teaching Assistant for a position starting as soon as possible.

For this position you will need to be an experienced Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant who has worked with young pupils on the Autism spectrum. You will need a strong understanding of the autism spectrum and how to use specific IEP's to provide effective support to this pupil. You will have to be able to keep the pupil focused on their work and be aware of any particular triggers that may cause a behavioural reaction. Should there be a reaction, having a variety of de-escalating techniques to help control the pupil and the situation. Working with SEN pupils has to be a passion, as every day will propose different obstacles for you to overcome. It can be a very challenging and emotionally testing position, but having resilience and tenacity to persevere will be key in succeeding. Although this is a challenging role, it is hugely rewarding, seeing a pupil progress under your guidance is uplifting and makes all the tough times worthwhile.
