Veritas Education are working with a range of SEN schools in the Leeds and West Yorkshire area looking for Post 16 special educational needs support staff. We have a range of roles available from learning support, behaviour support and 1:1 based positions across a variety of different settings.
The Role:
Post 16 special needs settings are set out on educating and preparing learners for their next steps of life after school. There is a big focus on learning basic life skills such as managing finances, cooking, cleaning, using public transport and other day to day responsibilities.
Your role as a Post 16 support will be to help assist learners develop their independence, learn new skills and work on a 1:1 basis around the setting and outside in the community. You will support young adults from 16 to 19+ age groups, who have a range of learning, communication and behaviour needs.
The ideal applicant will be someone with previous experience supporting children and/or adults with varying learning needs, comfortable working on a 1:1 basis, able to support the development of varying skills and be able to manage challenging behaviour at times too!
Requirements:
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS check (We can advise on this)
- Previous experience supporting learning needs is preferred
- Comfortable working with a range of ages and needs in different settings and environments
- Comfortable supporting children and young adults from 16 – 19 years old with a range of learning/Special needs.
