About the Role:Veritas Education are searching for a dedicated and compassionate QTS English Teacher with experience in SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) to support students who are currently unable to attend school due to medical or mental health reasons.
This unique and rewarding outreach role involves working with young people on a one-to-one or small group basis in local libraries across the borough, providing personalised English tuition and helping them stay engaged in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons tailored to individual needs and abilities
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet the educational and emotional needs of students with SEMH and medical challenges
- Work in partnership with schools, parents/carers, and external agencies to support student progress
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing assessment and review
- Travel independently to various library settings across the borough
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential
- Experience teaching English (KS3/KS4), ideally in an SEMH or alternative provision setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to build rapport with vulnerable young people
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a car – Essential
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain one)
