Are you a passionate Occupational Therapist looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? An exciting opportunity has arisen within a well-established independent specialist school in West Drayton, supporting pupils aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, and associated learning needs. The school provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment where every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.
Working as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in helping students develop the functional, sensory and life skills needed to thrive both in education and beyond.
The Role
- Assess pupils' functional, sensory and motor needs using evidence-based practice.
- Develop and implement personalised occupational therapy programmes to support students in achieving their educational and personal goals.
- Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions tailored to each learner's needs.
- Work closely with teachers, Teaching Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and families to create holistic support plans.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Offer training and guidance to school staff on occupational therapy strategies and sensory regulation.
About You
- A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism, SEMH, ADHD, sensory processing differences and additional learning needs.
- Strong knowledge of sensory integration and therapeutic interventions within educational settings.
- Excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and multidisciplinary professionals.
