Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Secondary Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in Lancashire. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting students with diverse needs in a secondary school environment. As a Secondary SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to provide tailored support that helps students thrive.
Responsibilities
- Support the academic, social, and emotional development of students with SEN.
- Assist in creating and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other SEN documentation.
- Work with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them access the curriculum and engage in class activities.
- Support students with physical, emotional, and behavioral needs, promoting a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and SEN coordinators to adapt lessons and resources.
- Monitor and report on student progress, offering feedback to the SENCO and teaching staff.
Requirements
- Relevant qualifications or experience working with children with SEN in a secondary school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for inclusive education.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
Desirable
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning or emotional needs.
- Previous experience working with SEN in a secondary school setting.
