Job Description

Job Title: Year 6 Teaching Assistant (Part-Time) – Lancaster

Location: North Lancaster

Hours: 9:00am – 12:00pm, Monday to Friday (term-time only)

Start Date: ASAP

Veritas Education are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school near Lancaster who are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support in Year 6.

About the Role:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil who is able to access the Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Offering general classroom support across the Year 6 class to enhance learning and engagement.
  • Supporting some behavioural challenges with a patient and consistent approach.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
  • Role is linked to a pupil with a pending EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan).

Hours & Contract:

  • Part-time: 9am-12pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Term-time only.
  • Long-term position, with the possibility of extension.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have prior experience supporting children in Key Stage 2, ideally with additional needs or behavioural challenges.
  • Be adaptable and able to balance 1:1 support with wider whole-class assistance.
  • Be patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships.
  • Work well as part of a team, but also show initiative.
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the update service.
