Are you a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Knaresborough for two full-time SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team from September on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

The Roles

We are looking to appoint

  • 1 x SEN Teaching Assistant supporting a pupil in Year 2
  • 1 x SEN Teaching Assistant supporting a pupil in Year 4

Both positions involve providing tailored support to pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them access learning, develop social skills, and achieve positive outcomes within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Implement strategies to support pupils with SEMH and Autism.
  • Promote engagement, independence, and confidence in learning.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals.
  • Use effective behaviour management techniques to support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism and/or SEMH needs.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
  • Ability to build trust and establish positive working relationships with pupils.
  • A proactive and resilient attitude with a genuine passion for supporting children.
  • Relevant TA qualifications are desirable but not essential for candidates with suitable experience.
