Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southwark to recruit a committed and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start. This OFSTED-rated 'Good' school is recognised for its supportive ethos and strong commitment to pupils' academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop confidence, remain engaged in learning, and achieve their full potential. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, proactive, and empathetic, with a genuine passion for supporting children—including those with additional needs—in a positive and nurturing school environment.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children in a primary school setting (essential)
  • Knowledge of strategies to support learning, communication, and behaviour
  • A calm, caring, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Support the class teacher with differentiated learning activities
  • Encourage pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Use creative and engaging approaches to enhance learning
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
