Veritas Education are working with a fantastic specialist all-through school in Darlington that supports pupils aged 5-19 with Autism (ASC) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a highly nurturing, structured learning environment and is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.
The Role
- Support pupils with Autism and SEMH needs across primary and secondary phases
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning
- Use de-escalation strategies and promote positive behaviour
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and therapists
- Help create a safe, positive and inclusive environment
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and sensory needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN (Autism, SEMH, complex needs or challenging behaviour)
- A calm, resilient and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- A valid Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
