The successful candidate will provide consistent one-to-one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum, regulate emotions, and develop both academically and socially within the classroom environment. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will play a key role in implementing tailored support strategies, adapting learning materials, and promoting positive engagement throughout the school day. The Ideal 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant Will Have:
- Proven experience supporting children in a primary school setting - essential
- Experience working with pupils with SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH)
- A strong understanding of behaviour regulation and communication strategies
- A calm, nurturing, and consistent approach
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's individual needs
- Implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
- Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour
- Adapting classroom activities to ensure full access to learning
- Monitoring progress and liaising with the class teacher and SENCO
- Contributing to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
