Our client is a specialist independent school supporting young people aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication difficulties, and cognition and learning challenges. The Role

We are seeking a passionate, adaptable, and committed SEN Teacher to join a dedicated specialist team in Burnley. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN practitioner who is confident delivering a broad and differentiated curriculum to KS3 and KS4 pupils with a wide range of additional needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating engaging learning experiences that support academic progress alongside social, emotional, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons across core and foundation subjects for KS3 and KS4 pupils
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN needs and learning abilities
  • Develop and implement personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
  • Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress and achievement
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
  • Support pupils' communication, independence, confidence, and social development
  • Use positive behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches to support learning outcomes

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • QTS or QTLS (essential)
  • Experience working with KS3 and KS4 pupils with SEN in mainstream or specialist settings
  • Strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and learning needs
  • The ability to differentiate effectively and deliver engaging lessons across a broad curriculum
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • A commitment to inclusive education and pupil-centred learning
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
