Veritas Education is seeking an experienced and passionate Behaviour Lead Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in the Burnley area. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled education professional to take a leading role in developing and embedding a positive behaviour culture across the school. This is a non‑classroom‑based position with no teaching commitment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher, who will act as the strategic lead, to implement and develop a clear vision for behaviour support and inclusion across the school. The Behaviour Lead will also line manage a Learning Mentor, working collaboratively to remove barriers to learning and promote positive learning behaviours for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver behaviour‑focused training and key messages to teaching and support staff.
  • Support teachers in developing tailored intervention programmes for individual pupils.
  • Monitor and evaluate behaviour systems and procedures across the school, ensuring consistency of implementation.
  • Analyse behaviour data, including CPOMS records, and evaluate the impact of interventions and strategies.
  • Write and review Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Oversee the implementation and development of the school's behaviour curriculum.
  • Respond to behaviour incidents using reflective and restorative approaches.
  • Produce behaviour reports for Governors and senior leaders.
  • Contribute to the school's Behaviour Support Group, reviewing support for pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Conduct planned pupil check‑ins and classroom visits.
  • Develop and implement rewards, recognition systems, and positive behaviour incentives.
  • Meet with parents and carers alongside class teachers to review and plan pupil progress.
  • Support the school's future goal of achieving a recognised Behaviour Quality Mark.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have strong experience supporting behaviour, inclusion, pastoral care, or leadership within a primary school setting.
  • Be an excellent communicator with the confidence to deliver training and influence positive change.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Have experience using behaviour data to inform practice and drive improvement.
  • Be passionate about removing barriers to learning and improving outcomes for pupils.

About the Role

Behaviour across the school is generally very good. The primary focus of this role is to address persistent low‑level behaviours that can impact learning and to build greater consistency in behaviour systems and expectations across the school. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring procedures are embedded effectively and consistently throughout the school community. The school is seeking a professional who can work strategically and operationally, supporting staff, pupils and families to ensure a consistent and positive approach to behaviour management across the school. This is a full‑time position and is not suitable for part‑time applicants.
