Occupational Therapist

Are you a passionate Occupational Therapist looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within a well-established independent specialist school in West Drayton, supporting pupils aged 11–19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, and associated learning needs. The school provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment where every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.

Working as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in helping students develop the functional, sensory and life skills needed to thrive both in education and beyond.

The Role

  • As the school's Occupational Therapist, you will:
  • Assess pupils' functional, sensory and motor needs using evidence-based practice.
  • Develop and implement personalised occupational therapy programmes to support students in achieving their educational and personal goals.
  • Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions tailored to each learner's needs.
  • Provide sensory integration strategies and recommendations to improve engagement and participation within the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers, Teaching Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and families to create holistic support plans.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Offer training and guidance to school staff on occupational therapy strategies and sensory regulation.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with children or young people with Autism, SEMH, ADHD, sensory processing differences and additional learning needs.
  • Strong knowledge of sensory integration and therapeutic interventions within educational settings.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and multidisciplinary professionals.
