We are recruiting for an experienced and passionate SEN Tutor to join a specialist post-16 education provision supporting young adults aged 16-25 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), SEND, Autism, Learning Disabilities and additional learning needs. This SEN Tutor role is ideal for a teacher, tutor, employability tutor, functional skills tutor or SEND practitioner who is committed to helping young people develop the skills, confidence and independence required to progress into supported internships, employment and adult life. You will teach learners working from Entry Level 3 to Level 2, delivering personalised learning programmes focused on employability skills, independence, functional skills, PSHE, workplace readiness and personal development.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons using the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement) framework.
- Teach learners with Special Educational Needs and Learning Disabilities (SEND/LDD) in small groups and individual sessions.
- Deliver employability programmes, work-readiness training and independent living skills.
- Embed Functional Skills English and Maths into learning activities.
- Deliver PSHE, British Values and personal development sessions.
- Differentiating teaching methods to meet a range of learning needs, EHCP outcomes and individual targets.
- Support learners to develop confidence, communication skills, interview techniques and workplace behaviours.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching, tutoring, training or assessing learners.
- Experience supporting young people or adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), SEND, Autism or Learning Disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of differentiated teaching and inclusive learning practices.
- Diploma in Education and Training (DET), PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Award in Education and Training (AET) Level 3 or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS Check for both Child and Adult Workforce.
