About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, patient, and caring SEN School Driver to transport children and young people with Special Educational Needs to and from school safely and on time. This role is vital in ensuring our students arrive feeling calm, secure, and ready for their day. In addition to driving duties, there may be occasions where transport is not required. On these days, you may be asked to support SEN pupils within the classroom, assisting staff in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport pupils to and from school, following a designated route and timetable
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all passengers at all times
  • Assist pupils with boarding and leaving the vehicle where required
  • Work alongside passenger assistants/escorts (where applicable)
  • Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicle
  • Report any incidents, delays, or concerns promptly
  • Adhere to all road safety laws and safeguarding policies

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence (with D1 entitlement / willingness to obtain, if required)
  • Experience driving minibuses or similar vehicles (desirable)
  • A calm, friendly, and patient approach to working with children
  • An understanding of SEN or a similar experience
  • Good timekeeping and reliability
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
