Veritas Education are currently working in partnership with a range of secondary schools across Kirklees to recruit committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people in a secondary school setting and making a positive impact on pupils’ academic progress and wellbeing.
The Role
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Work with individuals or small groups to help pupils access the curriculum
- Provide targeted support for students with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs
- Assist with classroom behaviour management in line with school policies
- Help create a safe, supportive and positive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Have experience working with children or young people aged 11–16 (school-based experience desirable)
- Be patient, reliable and confident in supporting behaviour and learning
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience in a secondary school setting
- Knowledge of SEND or behaviour support strategies
