Veritas Education are currently working in partnership with a range of secondary schools across Kirklees to recruit committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people in a secondary school setting and making a positive impact on pupils’ academic progress and wellbeing.

The Role

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Work with individuals or small groups to help pupils access the curriculum
  • Provide targeted support for students with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs
  • Assist with classroom behaviour management in line with school policies
  • Help create a safe, supportive and positive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have experience working with children or young people aged 11–16 (school-based experience desirable)
  • Be patient, reliable and confident in supporting behaviour and learning
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Previous experience in a secondary school setting
  • Knowledge of SEND or behaviour support strategies
