Autism Support Assistant
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism? Do you have experience in education, care, support work, youth work, residential care, healthcare, or a similar setting?
We are recruiting Autism Support Assistants to work within a highly regarded specialist all-through setting in Newcastle upon Tyne, supporting pupils from primary through to post-16 age ranges. This inclusive and nurturing school is recognised for its child-centred approach, specialist facilities, collaborative staff team, and commitment to helping every pupil achieve their full potential. The Role
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism
- Supporting learning both inside and outside the classroom
- Encouraging communication, social interaction and independence
- Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage transitions throughout the school day
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and specialist support staff
- Promoting positive outcomes and celebrating individual successes
We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEND, SEMH or additional needs
- A patient, resilient and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy environment
- Experience in education, care, residential support, healthcare, youth work or similar backgrounds is welcomed
