Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs? Veritas Education are working closely with a specialist SEN school who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a secondary‑aged class with a range of additional needs.
About the Role
You will be supporting students aged 11–16 with needs such as Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech & Language needs, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your role will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small‑group support
- Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging, differentiated activities
- Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop positive social skills
- Using de‑escalation strategies and behaviour support techniques
- Supporting personal care where required
- Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all learners
What We’re Looking For
- A minimum of a Level 2 TA qualification (or above) is desired but not essential
- Experience working with SEN pupils (school, care or youth work backgrounds welcome)
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong behaviour management or a willingness to learn
- A genuine commitment to helping young people thrive
- The ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with students
- Availability for 08:45–15:30, Monday to Friday
- Long‑term and immediate start available (depending on the school’s needs)
