We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH College Centre in Kirkham for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs while benefiting from a consistent part-time schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
  • Support learners to re‑engage with education, routines, and emotional regulation
  • Assist teaching staff with lesson delivery and differentiated activities
  • Apply positive behaviour support and de‑escalation strategies
  • Support students both academically and emotionally
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (schools, colleges, PRUs, care, youth work, or similar settings)
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
