We're looking for an enthusiastic and committed Science / PE Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in the Ilford area. This role involves teaching pupils aged 11β19 with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), SLD, and associated learning difficulties. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about making learning engaging, accessible, and meaningful for young people with additional needs.
Science / PE Teacher Role
- Delivering engaging Science and PE lessons tailored to pupils' individual needs and abilities
- Planning and adapting lessons to ensure all students can access and enjoy the curriculum
- Supporting students' academic, social, emotional, and physical development
- Creating a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Managing behaviour positively and effectively in line with school policies
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider school staff
- Monitoring, assessing, and tracking student progress
- Building strong relationships with pupils to promote confidence, independence, and well-being
Science / PE Teacher Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) is preferred but not required
- Experience teaching Science and/or PE across secondary age ranges
- A strong understanding of SEN, Autism, SEMH, or additional learning needs (desirable)
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- The ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A positive, resilient, and proactive approach
- SEN school experience is desirable but not essential
This role would suit an experienced Science or PE Teacher looking to move into SEN education, or a teacher already working within specialist provisions who is looking for a new challenge.
