We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and energetic PE Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Dagenham. This role is ideal for someone passionate about physical education and supporting children and young people, including those with Special Educational Needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils stay active, build confidence, and develop teamwork and motor skills in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of PE lessons and physical activities across the school
  • Assist in adapting activities to suit a range of abilities and SEN needs
  • Encourage pupil participation, teamwork, and positive engagement in sports
  • Help set up and organise equipment safely and effectively
  • Support students’ physical, social, and emotional development
  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment during lessons and activities
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet individual pupil needs
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and wellbeing in line with school policies
  • Ensure safeguarding and health & safety guidelines are always followed

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for sport, fitness, and working with young people
  • Experience working with children or in an SEN setting (desirable but not essential)
  • A positive, energetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage students of varying abilities
  • Sports coaching, PE, or relevant experience/background (preferred)
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
