SEN Support Assistant

Looking for rewarding SEN work where every day genuinely makes a difference?

Veritas Education is looking to build a strong team of SEN Support Assistants to work within a welcoming specialist primary setting in Billingham, with opportunities starting after the October half-term.

The setting supports primary-aged children with a range of learning difficulties, including PMLD and autism, with pupils following personalised learning pathways based on their individual needs and development.

The curriculum has a strong focus on communication, cognition, personal, social and emotional development, and physical development, delivered through four different pathways. Depending on the pathway, pupils may require sensory-based learning and high levels of adult support, structured and hands-on learning, or a more formal adapted National Curriculum approach.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
  • Helping children engage with personalised learning activities
  • Supporting communication, independence and emotional regulation
  • Working with pupils who may have physical, sensory, communication and complex learning needs
  • Providing a calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Working closely with teaching and specialist support staff

We'd love to hear from:

  • SEN Teaching Assistants
  • Learning Support Assistants
  • Autism Support Workers
  • PMLD/Complex Needs Support Workers
  • Children's Care or Residential Support Workers
  • Healthcare/support staff looking to move into education
  • Candidates with transferable experience who are passionate about SEND
