About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Employee Relations Manager to join our HR leadership team. This is a pivotal role for a proactive ER professional with strong employment law knowledge, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a passion for driving positive workplace outcomes. Reporting to the HR Director, UK&I, you will lead the Employee Relations function, overseeing the successful delivery of ER operations, complex case management, policy development, compliance, and governance. You will manage a team of ER Advisors ensuring the team delivers timely, pragmatic, and commercially focused ER support across the business. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance operational excellence with people-focused leadership, while continuously improving ER processes and contributing to the wider transformation of the HR function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Employee Relations function, providing strategic guidance and expert advice to senior leaders and managers on a broad range of ER matters.
  • Ensure all ER activities, processes, and casework are managed effectively, efficiently, and in line with employment legislation and company policies.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, whistleblowing, and other sensitive cases.
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners to identify trends, mitigate risks, and support proactive ER strategies across the organisation.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of ER Advisors and Junior HRBPs, creating a supportive and high-performing team culture.
  • Support the preparation of employment tribunal documentation, reports, and case files where required.
  • Develop and implement ER policies, procedures, and best practices that enhance compliance and employee experience.
  • Deliver process improvements and support the ongoing transformation of the HR function through innovation and technology.
  • Design and facilitate training for managers on employee relations processes, difficult conversations, and people management best practices.
  • Manage long-term absence cases and Occupational Health referrals effectively and compassionately.
  • Analyse and report on ER metrics to identify trends, measure success, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure ER risks, timelines, and potential cost impacts are effectively managed and communicated.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring significant employee relations experience within a fast-paced commercial environment, along with a strong understanding of UK employment law and ER best practice. You will also demonstrate:

  • Proven experience managing complex ER casework from end to end.
  • Strong leadership and coaching capabilities, with the ability to develop HR colleagues and managers.
  • A pragmatic and commercially focused approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
