Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate brings 4+ years’ Business Analysis experience within insurance (London Market exposure highly desirable, not essential). You will join the team at an exciting time and translate business needs into clear, testable specifications, providing examples and clarifications as required. You will work on various initiatives including client projects and product development activities working closely with UI/UX, Engineering, QA, Product Owners and other key stakeholders. You will also mentor junior BAs, providing day‑to‑day guidance, constructive feedback, and sharing best practice across the BA community.
Responsibilities
- Product & domain expertise: Build a deep understanding of Broking solution functionality and develop specialist knowledge in designated product areas.
- Process & systems analysis: Analyse complex processes, functions and procedures to determine the most effective product approach to meet organisational needs.
- Workshops & discovery: Provide detailed rationale and user‑case knowledge during design and requirements sessions; lead internal and client workshops to elicit and validate requirements.
- Requirements translation: Work with colleagues to convert business requirements into clear, testable functional requirements.
- Coaching & review: Support and review work from junior analysts within the project team to ensure quality and completeness of requirements.
- Estimating: Provide and deliver analysis estimates to Product Owner and track progress.
- Escalations & resolution: Liaise with Product Owner on risks, escalations and problem resolution within the team.
- Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with users and stakeholders to gather, analyse and document business requirements.
- BA deliverables: Produce user stories, use cases and requirements documentation, demonstrating a clear understanding of business and functional needs.
- Build support: Work closely with development and product teams to ensure requirements are implemented as intended.
- Clarifications during build: Respond promptly to questions and remove ambiguity throughout the development phase.
- Planning & delivery: Participate in project planning and management activities, contributing to scope, milestones and risk management.
- Training: Deliver targeted training for clients and colleagues on complex areas of the platform/process.
Qualifications
- 5+ years as a Business Analyst within the insurance industry (London Market Broking experience strongly desirable).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of requirements elicitation, management and documentation, including use‑case development.
- Experience delivering in Agile and/or Waterfall environments; solid understanding of the Product Life Cycle principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to tailor content to business and technical audiences.
- Proven ability to work in cross‑functional, team‑oriented environments and to drive clarity in complex, multi‑stakeholder settings.
- Technical fluency advantageous particularly with JSON (or proficiency in another coding/query language) to support API/integration conversations.
- Self‑motivated, organised, and comfortable working independently while managing multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Experience providing peer reviews, feedback and mentoring to analysts is desired (line management experience beneficial but not essential).
