About Verisk Specialty Business Solutions: Verisk Specialty Business Solutions, part of the global Verisk family, is a leading provider of innovative insurance and reinsurance software solutions. We specialize in delivering successful transformation programs for underwriters, brokers, and MGAs within the Lloyd’s, companies, and international insurance/reinsurance sectors. Our Sequel product range offers class‑leading, end‑to‑end solutions that enhance client experience and better inform risk decisions.
Position Overview: We’re looking for an ambitious and driven Business Analyst to join our Broking Solutions team. You will help translate business needs into clear, testable requirements and support the delivery of product enhancements and client implementations. This is a hands‑on, focused role: you’ll work closely with Senior BAs, Product Owners, UI/UX, Engineering, QA and client stakeholders to build your domain and product expertise while contributing day‑to‑day analysis tasks.
Responsibilities
- Build a working understanding of our Broking Solutions platform and the specialty (re)insurance lifecycle, with guidance from Senior BAs and Product Owners.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of key features and integrations relevant to broker workflows.
- Assist with requirements elicitation (interviews, workshops, shadowing, and document reviews) and capture clear notes and actions.
- Draft and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases whilst also capturing assumptions, dependencies, and non‑functional needs under the supervision of a Senior BA/Lead.
- Work with UI/UX to ensure user stories align to user journeys and wireframes.
- Partner with Developers and QA to clarify edge cases, remove ambiguity, and keep requirements testable and traceable.
- Support defect triage and query resolution during build and test phases; respond to questions to eliminate vagaries.
- Contribute to UAT preparation (test scenarios, data, environment checks), support client users during UAT, and help track outcomes through to BAU.
- Maintain high‑quality document artefacts (process maps, story maps, Confluence pages, release notes) that are easy for teammates and clients to follow.
- Prepare and deliver short demos or walkthroughs of new features internally; help create training materials for clients and colleagues.
- Actively seek feedback and mentoring from Senior BAs; take part in sprint ceremonies and project planning.
- Flag risks, dependencies, and scope changes promptly to the Senior BA/PM.
Qualifications
- 0–2+ years in a Business Analyst role or experience in a relevant insurance/broking operations role with strong analytical exposure (placements, endorsements, billing, bordereaux, or similar).
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to structure information and ask thoughtful, follow‑up questions.
- Basic familiarity with Agile delivery (scrum/kanban), user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Strong organisational skills: can manage notes, actions, and artefacts across multiple small workstreams.
- Data literacy (comfortable with Excel; ability to validate data scenarios and spot inconsistencies).
- Growth mindset: demonstrate curious, coachable mindset and proactive in closing knowledge gaps.
- Exposure to London Market processes (slips, endorsements, premiums/claims, accounting & settlement) or specialty lines is an advantage but not essential.
- Experience with Jira/Azure DevOps, Confluence, Miro/Visio (for user story/backlog and process mapping).
- Awareness of API/JSON concepts, basic SQL, or integration testing (you won’t be coding, but technical fluency will help).
- Understanding of the software delivery and product development lifecycle.
