We are looking for 2 X experienced Supplier Quality Engineers for our Aerospace Customer. This is a 5 month contract role in Prestwick which will be working entirely on-site, with no working from home. 37 hours per week, over 5 days with an early finish on a Friday. The role is outside IR35 so can be worked either through a limited company or an Umbrella Company.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance, control and quality performance of all Suppliers from a quality perspective, through the deployment of supplier reviews, regular recorded communications and surveillance activities.
- Ensure that all supplier non-conformities are reviewed and where necessary, escalated using the appropriate Spirit processes to drive robust RCCA and get-well/improvement plans.
- Ensure that the Prestwick Programs are adequately supported in terms of management of supplier quality issues, including clear communication of all issues.
- Drive towards improved supplier quality performance through the creation of metrics for key processes and agreed targets, driving the use of APQP methodology in line with recognised industry requirements.
- Report on supplier performance through regular internal KPI reviews.
- Actively review and develop suppliers' manufacturing processes, ensuring they are maintained within βcontrolβ limits and product quality is achieved.
- Provide specialist supplier quality support to IPTs and other Functions (including investigation support).
- Manage and support the supplier quality interface and ensure that all supplier quality issues and non-conformances are managed to an agreed timescale.
- Report regularly on the quality performance of the supply chain.
- Co-ordinate the generation and deployment of Metrics to support business requirements.
- Assist in the deployment of the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
- First Article Inspection/Verification (FAI/V) support to any major modifications or supplier transfer activities if required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Preferably be qualified to HNC/HND level in Quality or related Engineering discipline and/or have relevant experience in Quality Management and working to deadlines.
- Experience of auditing is preferred.
- Have 5 years minimum relevant engineering experience, within a Quality or Manufacturing Engineering Aerospace environment.
- Should also ideally possess knowledge of AS 9100 as well as regulatory authority approval and certification requirements.
- Good communication skills β with the ability to interface at all levels within Spirit and suppliers.
- Preferably experience of Airbus and Boeing products, engineering drawings and specification requirements would be preferable.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages β Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, Smartsheet and Access.
- Experience in various manufacturing processes, able to walk the processes and effectively verify all key process parameters (Metallic Machining, Detail Fabrication and Composite manufacturing experience).
- Experience with practical problem solving, continuous improvement, root cause analysis and corrective action tool sets.
- Experience with first article inspection to AS9102 requirements.
