We are currently looking for a First Article Inspector for a 6 month contract based in Brockworth, Gloucester. Pay Rate - £32 per hour. This role is inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI): Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of propeller assemblies and components using precision measurement tools.
- Verify compliance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
- Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports in accordance with AS9102 FAI documentation.
- Ensure proper traceability of materials and components.
- Identify, document & address non-conformances, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Logging daily hours and activities for weekly submission.
- Raise and monitor non-conformances in relation to FAI, may contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Work closely with quality peers, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to address quality concerns.
- Support daily management of FAI progress, providing escalation where necessary to meet production deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to improve FAI processes & any concerns regarding compliance to FAI requirements.
Skills Required:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools.
- Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Strong ability to identify defects and non-conformances.
- Meticulous documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to analyse and resolve quality issues effectively.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
Certifications:
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent, preferred.
- Training in AS9102 FAI documentation.
Work Environment:
- Work may involve exposure to manufacturing environments, including noise, dust, and machinery.
- Requires daily interactions with multiple functions.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances, including ITAR.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as needed.
