Seeking a Process Quality Engineer to be based on-site supporting a customer programme in Wolverhampton, working full-time, Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will have a strong quality background, experience in product launch and development environments, and the ability to develop inspection plans and optimise inspection methods to support the delivery of high-quality aerospace components.
The support will include:
- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and GD&T requirements
- Developing and reviewing inspection plans, procedures and documentation
- Supporting Engineering Design Reviews with quality input (inspection feasibility, producibility, etc.)
- Working with engineering, production and specialist teams to resolve technical and quality issues
- Supporting inspections, investigations and problem analysis during NPI and development phases
- Highlighting manufacturing and fabrication issues that impact delivery performance
- Supporting the design of inspection processes, equipment and fixturing
- Working with the APQP lead and supporting related activities
- Planning and coordinating MSA studies
- Assisting with interpretation of manufacturing data to assess process stability and capability
- Supporting advancement of inspection methods and new technologies
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement within the NPI team
Experience requirements:
- Previous experience in a quality-focused role within aerospace or automotive (product development or NPI experience advantageous)
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Good knowledge of manual and automated inspection tools (e.g. micrometers, verniers, CMM, vision systems)
- Experience within an AS9100 quality system and familiarity with AS9102 FAIR requirements
- Understanding of drafting and modelling practices (ASME Y14.5 advantageous)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment
- Able to interpret data and support process capability assessments
- Comfortable using a range of software packages
- Based within a commutable distance of Wolverhampton
- Occasional flexibility to work outside core hours subject to business need
