About The Role

The

EMEA Scheme Compliance Manager – Acquiring ensures Verifone’s acquiring and gateway solutions remain fully compliant with Visa, Mastercard, and other payment scheme requirements.

This role translates scheme mandates into clear internal deliverables, manages non‑compliance risk, and acts as Verifone’s primary point of contact with regional scheme partners.

It is a cross‑functional role spanning Product, Engineering, Finance, Certification, Customer Success, and Sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scheme Mandate & Release Management
  • Monitor Visa/Mastercard bi‑annual releases, mandates, and scheme bulletins; summarise and distribute requirements to internal teams.
  • Translate scheme changes into internal requirements and submit prioritised items into relevant Product backlogs.
  • Track EMEA mandate deadlines and escalate delivery risks.
  • Manage acquirer/processor‑initiated changes related to scheme mandates.
  • Drive mandate delivery through to GTM in partnership with Product Owners and Customer Success.
  • Non‑Compliance & Risk Management
  • Track non‑compliance notifications from Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Discover.
  • Identify root causes and define remediation requirements; ensure timely resolution.
  • Support scheme fraud investigations for EMEA acquiring customers.
  • Maintain visibility of fines, remediation progress, and compliance status through dashboards and regular reporting.
  • Scheme Reporting & Fee Governance
  • Complete mandatory scheme reporting for EMEA acquiring entities.
  • Review interchange and scheme fee changes; assess commercial impact and recommend pricing adjustments.
  • Partner with Finance on reconciliation practices and fee validation.
  • Scheme Relations & Industry Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with Visa and Mastercard regional teams.
  • Represent Verifone in EMEA industry forums and acquirer working groups.
  • Serve as the primary contact for scheme inquiries and compliance clarifications.

Certification Alignment

  • Coordinate with Certification teams on EMEA‑relevant scheme certification programmes.
  • Interpret technical mandates and ensure certification timelines align with mandate effective dates.
  • Merchant & Customer Support
  • Provide compliance guidance and training to merchants and partners.
  • Support Sales and Customer Success with scheme‑related queries, RFP responses, and customer communications.
  • Governance & Reporting
  • Maintain the EMEA section of the Global Scheme Compliance Dashboard.
  • Support preparation of executive‑level compliance reviews and cross‑functional updates.
  • Operate within Verifone’s scheme compliance RACI, owning all accountable items for the EMEA region.
  • Required Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years in payment scheme compliance, acquiring operations, or related payments roles.
  • Experience in regulated payments environments (acquirer, processor, financial institution)
  • Strong knowledge of Visa/Mastercard compliance frameworks, mandate cycles, and non‑compliance processes.
  • Proven ability to manage cross‑functional compliance deliverables.
  • Understanding of scheme fee structures, interchange, and commercial impacts.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex regulatory content.
  • Proficiency in Jira or similar tracking tools.
  • Fluency in English.

Desirable

  • Experience with Mastercard DIMP, Visa mandate processes, and fine dispute procedures.
  • Knowledge of EMEA‑specific compliance requirements (e. g., TLID, Consumer Choice, Fleet 2.0).
  • Familiarity with Verifone acquiring products or equivalent platforms.
  • Understanding of scheme certification programmes.
  • Participation in industry forums.
  • Additional European languages.
