Verian is one of the leading social research, evaluation, and advisory agencies in the UK. We have over 150 specialist researchers and evaluators, and an office in the heart of Westminster. Our specialist teams create the evidence required for some of the biggest decisions in the country. We advise clients on public policy design, ground‑breaking behaviour change programmes, and provide national statistics and longitudinal data.
The role sits within our specialist policy team. A multidisciplinary research team, coupling methodological excellence with deep policy insight to deliver impactful and high‑quality work to clients. Clients include central government, regulators and the third sector and we work across a range of policy areas, including education and skills, welfare and employment, tax, crime and justice, and sustainability.
Purpose of the role
This role offers considerable opportunity to continue development of your skills as a researcher and project manager. The role includes responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of projects (engaging with clients, coordinating the internal team and delivering to time) and conducting quantitative and mixed‑method research tasks (tool design, fieldwork, analysis and reporting). An interest in and experience of qualitative research is also desirable given many of our projects involve a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.

Capabilities

- Strong experience of managing multiple tasks and priorities and delivering on time.
- Good understanding of project budgets and cost control.
- Experienced researcher (quantitative research experience essential). Opportunity to work on mixed‑method projects (qualitative research experience desirable).
- Experience of working on quantitative data collection, such as online or telephone surveys.
- Ability to design high quality survey questionnaires.
- Accuracy in setting up survey questionnaire scripts and data outputs.
- Experience of proactively managing and monitoring projects in field.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong writing skills and PowerPoint design capabilities.
- Strong delivery/verbal presentation to clients.
- Keen interest in public policy. Specialist policy expertise an advantage.
- Experience of qualitative research methods including conducting depth interviews and focus groups is desirable.
