Purpose of the role:
This role is to lead our finance teams for the Continental Europe region (Belgium, Netherlands, France, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Norway). The key components of the role will be to lead Reporting, Control, Budgeting and Cashflow for the region.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced management accountant. In this role, you will be the accountant for the German entities, you will run month end for the country, partner with senior stakeholders and assist in other finance processes like cashflow forecasting, budgeting and other commercial finance aspects.
Main Responsibilities:
- The sole accountant for the German entities, working closely with the shared service centre ensuring all accounting transactions are accurately recorded.
- Work with the business in ensuring monthly revenue recognition (percentage of completion) and direct costs are accounted for in line with GAAP.
- Ensure the completion of month end management accounts in line with the month end timetable.
- Manage overhead costs, ensuring the shared service centre records costs correctly and the local cost centre managers understand the overheads of the business against budget.
- Partner with cost centre managers enforcing the purchase order policy.
- Assist the Finance Director in explaining the month end results vs. budget and communicating this to Head Quarters.
- Ensure all local financial controls are maintained and reconciliations are produced in a timely manner.
- On those reconciliations produced by the shared service centre, review and approve them ensuring they are materially accurate.
- Assist in the cashflow process.
- Work with the shared service centre to resolve cash allocation queries.
- Be the SAP 4Hana super user in the country.
- Assist in the budget and forecast process.
- Produce IFRS year end financial statements for Group Consolidation and work with local third parties to produce German GAAP financial statements.
- Monitor all tax and compliance matters in the country, working with the central tax and audit teams, and expert third parties to meet deadlines and resolve issues.
- Be part of and champion continuous improvement in the country and the wider finance function.
Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant with extensive accounting experience.
- Experience in the Professional Services or Consulting industries preferred.
- Experience with SAP 4Hana is preferred.
- Experience in working across non-UK jurisdictions.
- A strong aptitude for financial processes and internal controls.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Self-motivation with a drive to learn and pick up new challenges.
