About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice in Hitchin for an Audit Senior / Audit Semi Senior to join their growing audit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with recent practice experience who is confident managing audit assignments from planning through to completion. The successful candidate will work with a varied portfolio of clients across different sectors while developing their technical and professional skills within a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver audit assignments from planning through to completion.
- Prepare audit files and working papers to a high professional standard.
- Identify audit risks and communicate findings to managers.
- Liaise directly with clients throughout the audit process.
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Assist with statutory accounts preparation where required.
- Ensure all work is completed within agreed deadlines.
- Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with UK accounting and auditing standards.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Part-qualified ACA or ACCA (or equivalent).
- Recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
- Experience handling audit assignments from planning through to completion with minimal supervision.
- Good understanding of UK auditing standards.
- Strong communication and client relationship skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Desirable
- Experience gained within a medium-sized accountancy practice.
- Accounts preparation experience.
- Experience supervising junior staff.
- Knowledge of audit software such as CCH, CaseWare, IRIS, or similar.
