Position: Automatic Door Engineer Reports to: Head of Fire and Security Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: £28K-£35K Role Overview The Automatic Door Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of a range of automatic door systems in line with industry regulations, safety standards, and client specifications. This position requires strong technical knowledge, effective problem-solving skills, and a focus on delivering excellent customer service. Key Duties & Responsibilities Install, service, and repair automatic door systems, including sliding, swing, revolving, and specialist access doors. Diagnose faults and carry out prompt, effective repairs to minimise customer downtime. Conduct preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines and BS EN 16005 standards. Perform safety checks, adjustments, and system testing to ensure compliance with regulations. Provide on-site technical advice and support to clients. Accurately complete all documentation, including service reports and parts usage logs. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment, both on client sites and within company vehicles. Adhere to Health & Safety policies and relevant legal requirements. Participate in the on-call rota to provide emergency breakdown cover. Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to obtain parts and technical information. Required Skills & Experience Demonstrable experience with automatic doors, access control systems, or similar electromechanical equipment. Knowledge of BS EN 16005 and relevant safety standards. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability. Full, clean UK driving licence. Ability to pass full security vetting (NPPV2). Capable of working independently and managing workloads effectively. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Desirable Skills & Qualifications ADSA (Automatic Door Suppliers Association) or equivalent accreditation. Experience in aluminium door fabrication and installation. Familiarity with multiple door control systems and brands. Basic IT skills for job reporting and use of service management software.
