Our client, an engineering manufacturer in the North East, is looking to appoint an experienced Quality Control Inspector to join their growing team. This is a hands-on role within a busy fabrication and manufacturing environment, ensuring products meet customer specifications, internal quality standards, and industry compliance requirements. You will play a key part in maintaining quality standards across the production lifecycle, working closely with shopfloor teams, management, suppliers, and client representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and record inspections on incoming materials, in-process work, and final products
  • Perform internal QMS and product-specific audits
  • Coordinate inspections with customers and third-party inspectors
  • Review and issue work instructions to meet contract and internal standards
  • Raise and manage NCRs, concessions, and material certification documentation
  • Lead and support Root Cause Analysis investigations into quality issues and warranty claims
  • Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain and monitor the Quality Management System (ISO 9001 environment)
  • Manage the calibration system, including internal and external calibration coordination
  • Compile quality data dossiers and support KPI reporting
  • Liaise directly with suppliers and customer representatives on quality matters
  • Promote safe working practices and challenge unsafe behaviours

Essential:

  • Experience within a fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience managing NCRs, inspections, and quality documentation
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and industry standards such as ASME
  • Confident communicator able to liaise with customers and suppliers
  • Strong planning and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • CSWIP 3.1 (CSWIP 3.0 considered)
  • PCN Level II (MPI & DPI) or equivalent NDT certification
  • Engineering apprenticeship or similar qualification
