This role requires a hands-on, commercially astute finance leader who can both challenge and support the business, ensuring financial discipline while enabling growth. You should have proven experience as a CFO/Finance Director, ideally with exposure to divestment activity.
What you’ll be doing:
- Serve as a trusted business partner to the MD and an active contributor to the SLT
- Lead the monthly financial close, owning the full P&L, WIP calculations, accruals and detailed balance sheet reviews
- Drive the reforecasting process in collaboration with Client Services and New Business, identifying risks, opportunities, and expected outturns
- Lead board reporting with a strong focus on P&L performance, cash flow, and forward-looking financial insight
- Partner closely with Client Services, chairing monthly WIP meetings to review project progress, revenue forecasts, and commercial exposure
- Maintain accurate long-term and short-term cash flow forecasting
- Support the Finance Manager and AP Assistant across billing, supplier payments and operational finance to ensure seamless day-to-day delivery
- Oversee the audit process, ensuring timely preparation of schedules and responses, with completion targeted for June/July
- Produce monthly utilisation and client profitability reporting, using data from Float to inform commercial decision-making
- Provide oversight of tax and payroll compliance, including VAT, Corporation Tax and payroll processes
- Support new business activity through contract review, pricing input, and commercial modelling
- Work alongside the MD to help deliver the financial data relating to new ideas, products and services that will ultimately benefit the business
- Managing 2 team members and working 1-2 days a week (or more) in London office.
What you’ll need:
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA)
- Proven experience as a Finance Director, ideally with exposure to divestment activity
- Background in SMEs, working in a fast-paced, transactional business
- Ability to quickly build strong working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with finance systems, ideally IRIS Financials
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly analytical with strong influencing and leadership capabilities
- Action-oriented mindset with the ability to translate goals into clear, executable plans
- Self-motivated, energetic, and driven, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
