We are delighted to be supporting a leading UK University with their requirement for an Interim Associate Director HR People Partnering. The HR People Partnering Team supports the development and implementation of people strategies to over 17,500 staff across faculties, professional Services Divisions and Vice Provost/Presidents’ Offices, comprising academic, clinical, research, teaching, and faculty/central professional services staff. This Associate Director role will support the central professional services departments and VP offices, as well as lead a People Partnering Team.

Partnering with senior leaders across the organisation, this role is key in delivering the university’s People Strategy, and will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of local strategies for attraction, retention, engagement, and development of people in line with the University strategies.

Key responsibilities include:
  • You will manage and resolve complex scenarios in conjunction with relevant members of the HR organisation.
  • Monitor and interpret HR analytics across the Division and share these insights with leaders and managers to enhance their understanding.
  • Lead on succession planning and talent management with the Divisions and ensuring that we have a diverse talent pipeline.
  • Support with the recruitment of senior roles within the Division including coordinating effective attraction and selection campaigns.
  • Work with the Vice Presidents and the Central EDI team on improving the diversity and equity of the general and senior populations in the faculties.
  • Work with the Vice Presidents and the Organisational Development team on local training and development plans to ensure that we retain people and have good succession.
  • Work with the Vice Presidents to ensure the embedding of Ways of Working and good practices when delivering their responsibilities in the Performance Management and Development cycle.
  • Ensure this cycle works effectively within the assigned client groups.
  • Work with the Vice Presidents and the Workplace Health team to embed a culture of wellbeing within the Divisions.
  • Support organisational change with the senior team.
  • Directly line manage the Senior HR People Partners and coach a team of HR People Partners/Associate HR People Partners to ensure that they are developed and are performing in their role.
  • In conjunction with the wider HR group train and coach senior leaders as appropriate.
  • Lead University wide People Projects and ensure implementation.
  • Work with the Director of HR People Partnering to manage the relevant departmental budget within the parameters agreed with the Chief People Officer.
  • Work with the relevant finance team and Chief People Officer to establish the annual departmental budget.
  • Develop appropriate level external networks to develop sector and best practice for HR.
