The clean energy transition doesn't happen without capital — patient, well-structured, strategically deployed capital. Our client provides exactly that. They're a respected UK-based private equity firm focused entirely on renewable energy infrastructure. Solar, wind, storage — they back the assets that matter, with a long‑term ownership mindset and a track record of getting complex deals done. The firm is growing, the pipeline is strong, and they're looking for a senior investment professional to help lead the next chapter.

This isn't a support role. It's a mandate.

As Investment Director, you'll drive the full investment lifecycle — from origination and evaluation through execution, structuring, and active portfolio management. You'll work at the centre of a lean, high‑calibre team, with direct influence over how the firm deploys capital and creates value across its clean energy portfolio. You’ll bring your own deal instincts, your own relationships, and your own view on where the best opportunities sit in the UK market right now.

London-based, hybrid working. £150,000 – £170,000 base + bonus and long‑term incentive potential.

What You’ll Do

  • Source, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities across solar, wind, energy storage, and adjacent clean technologies — from first look through to close.
  • Lead financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, and deal structuring across private equity transactions of genuine complexity.
  • Drive negotiations and manage legal documentation, financing arrangements, and co‑investor relationships.
  • Own portfolio performance post‑close — monitoring KPIs, engaging management teams, and leading value‑creation initiatives with purpose and rigour.
  • Stay close to UK and European market dynamics: regulatory shifts, policy drivers, and the competitive landscape for renewable energy capital.
  • Mentor junior investment professionals, building team capability as the firm scales.
  • Represent the firm externally — at industry forums, with advisors, and in conversations that matter for the firm’s reputation and deal flow.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years across private equity, infrastructure investment, investment banking, or project finance — with a clear focus on renewables or energy infrastructure.
  • A verifiable track record of leading transactions from origination through close and into active ownership.
  • Advanced financial modelling and deal structuring skills. You can build the model and you can defend it in a room full of sceptics.
  • Deep familiarity with the UK renewable energy market — regulatory frameworks, policy tailwinds, and where the structural opportunities are heading.
  • Strong relationships and the instinct to build new ones — with developers, co‑investors, advisors, and asset managers.
  • CFA, CAIA, MBA, or equivalent advanced qualification. A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field as the foundation.

Why Join Now

The firm is well‑capitalised, focused, and operating in a market where the deal flow is only becoming more sophisticated. You'll have the seniority to shape strategy, the deal access to do meaningful work, and the team around you to make it count.

The energy transition needs more than good intentions. It needs disciplined capital, placed well, managed carefully. That's what this firm does — and it's what this role is built to lead.

If that's the level you want to operate at, let’s talk.
